The AI Skills for Future Jobs Initiative was established to prepare young people across Pakistan for the rapidly evolving employment landscape shaped by artificial intelligence, automation, and digital transformation. As industries increasingly adopt AI-powered systems and digital technologies, many young people face uncertainty regarding future employment opportunities and the skills required to remain competitive in the modern economy. This initiative responds directly to the growing demand for practical digital competencies among businesses, startups, educational institutions, and online work platforms throughout Pakistan.
Supported by META through Hands of Mercy International and Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the program equips youth with market-relevant artificial intelligence and digital innovation skills that improve employability, entrepreneurship potential, and economic resilience. The initiative specifically targets unemployed graduates, vulnerable youth, women, rural communities, and marginalized groups who often face limited access to technology training opportunities.
Participants receive intensive training in prompt engineering, AI-assisted research, digital productivity systems, automation tools, online collaboration platforms, AI-supported content generation, data organization, digital communication, and ethical technology practices. The program also introduces youth to practical applications of artificial intelligence across sectors including education, media, customer service, agriculture, entrepreneurship, and social innovation.
Through partnerships with universities, grassroots organizations, community innovation hubs, and youth centers, the initiative provides hybrid learning opportunities combining online instruction with practical in-person workshops. Participants work on real-world projects such as developing AI-supported customer service systems, creating automated business reports, building digital marketing campaigns, and designing online business solutions using emerging AI tools.
The initiative strongly emphasizes inclusion and equal opportunity. Dedicated outreach efforts ensure that young women, youth with limited digital exposure, and participants from underserved communities are actively included in training opportunities. Mentorship circles connect participants with professionals from the technology, media, entrepreneurship, and innovation sectors who provide career guidance, leadership development, and practical industry insights.
In addition to technical skills development, the program incorporates modules on ethical AI use, misinformation awareness, cybersecurity, online safety, and responsible digital citizenship. Participants are encouraged to think critically about the social impact of artificial intelligence while using technology responsibly and inclusively.
Graduates of the program are connected to freelancing opportunities, internships, startup incubation initiatives, and digital entrepreneurship support systems that help them transition into sustainable employment pathways. Several participants have gone on to establish online businesses, secure remote work opportunities, and launch community-based digital service enterprises that contribute to local economic development.
The AI Skills for Future Jobs Initiative reflects GenAI Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring that young people are not only prepared for the future of work but are also empowered to become ethical innovators, digital leaders, and changemakers in Pakistan’s growing AI ecosystem.
