Across Asia, young people are demonstrating remarkable creativity, ambition, and a desire to shape the future. Yet, many face barriers to accessing the skills, resources, and opportunities needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world. As artificial intelligence (AI) transforms industries, education, and employment, equipping young people with relevant skills has become more important than ever.
For young people from underserved communities, access to digital learning and emerging technologies can open doors to new opportunities, strengthen their employability, and enable them to become innovators and entrepreneurs in their own communities.
Recognizing this potential, Hands of Mercy International (HoM) is strengthening its engagement with young people across Asia, supporting skills development, innovation, and opportunities for youth to participate in the digital future.
Building Skills, Confidence, and Opportunity
Hands of Mercy International’s engagement in Asia reflects its commitment to empowering young people with the knowledge, skills, and connections they need to succeed.
Through youth-focused initiatives and partnerships, the organization has engaged young people in skills development and supported efforts to strengthen their understanding and use of artificial intelligence. These efforts recognize that preparing young people for the future requires more than traditional education; it also means helping them develop digital competencies, think creatively, and explore how emerging technologies can address real-world challenges.
The organization’s engagement also extends to opportunities that bring young people together to learn, exchange ideas, and build networks beyond their immediate communities.
One such opportunity is the Movers Skills Grant Programme, which brings young people together around skills development and personal growth. Volunteers from Hands of Mercy International joined other young participants in the programme, reflecting the organization’s commitment to youth participation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
By engaging in these spaces, young people can share experiences, explore new possibilities, and build relationships that may support their future personal and professional development.
Taking Youth Innovation to Silicon Valley
Building on its ongoing engagement across Asia, Hands of Mercy International is advancing plans to support young people from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, and Bhutan to participate in an AI-focused event being organized in Silicon Valley, California.
Through planned sponsorships spanning 2026 and 2027, the organization aims to help young people access opportunities to learn about artificial intelligence, engage with emerging innovations, and connect with others working to shape the future of technology.
Why Artificial Intelligence Skills Matter
Artificial intelligence is reshaping how people learn, work, communicate, and solve problems. From education and healthcare to agriculture, entrepreneurship, and social development, AI presents opportunities to improve productivity and develop new approaches to persistent challenges.
However, these opportunities are not equally accessible. Young people who lack access to digital resources, practical training, mentorship, and professional networks risk being left behind.
Hands of Mercy International recognizes the importance of ensuring that young people from diverse backgrounds can participate in this transformation.
Supporting AI skills development can help young people explore new career pathways, strengthen their problem-solving abilities, and develop innovative approaches to local challenges. It can also encourage them to become creators and responsible users of technology rather than passive consumers.
Investing in Young People, Investing in the Future
Hands of Mercy International believes that empowering young people is one of the most meaningful investments an organization can make.
By connecting youth engagement, practical skills development, and exposure to emerging technologies, the organization is working towards a future in which young people have greater opportunities to learn, innovate, and contribute to sustainable development.
