Disaster Response

Delivering Emergency Relief and Supporting Recovery in Ukraine

Humanitarian crises strike without warning. From armed conflict to mass displacement and infrastructure collapse, emergencies can unfold anywhere and at any time. Since the escalation of the crisis in Ukraine, millions of civilians—especially women, children, and the elderly—have faced immense health and protection challenges.

Working alongside trusted local and international partners, Hands of Mercy (HoM) responds rapidly to emergencies in Ukraine through a coordinated, three-pillar approach designed to save lives and support long-term recovery.

Our Emergency Response Approach

1. Frontline Health and Community Response

HoM delivers immediate humanitarian assistance through partner health facilities and community-based interventions, prioritizing:

  • Emergency medical and trauma care
  • Nutrition services for vulnerable populations
  • Water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) support
  • Child protection and psychosocial support
  • Prevention and response to gender-based violence

These services are adapted to the evolving needs of conflict-affected and displaced communities.

2. Life-Saving Medical Supplies and Donations

HoM mobilizes and distributes donated medicines, health commodities, and essential medical supplies to trusted healthcare partners operating in high-need areas. These supplies support both immediate emergency care and continuity of essential health services during recovery phases.

3. Financial Support to Local Partners

Recognizing the critical role of local actors, HoM provides flexible financial support to frontline partners, enabling rapid procurement, staffing, and operational continuity in volatile environments.

Powered by Partnerships

Through a combination of in-kind product donations and targeted cash grants, HoM remains agile, efficient, and responsive. Our work is strengthened through collaboration with a broad network of corporate and philanthropic partners, including Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, and Sudan Relief Fund, alongside the generous support of individual donors and institutional funders.
